About Job Searching: What You Post Online Can Get You Fired

About.com    Job Searching
In the Spotlight | More Topics | Top Picks |
  from Alison Doyle
There have been more than a few stories in the news about employees being fired because of what they posted online. Posting company business (good or bad), posting that you hate your employer, posting inappropriate information on Facebook, tweeting that you have a job offer while still employed, are just a few examples, of what can get you in trouble, or even cost you your job, especially when you do it from work.

What You Post Online Can Get You Fired
Here's information on what can get you fired and how to play it safe online, along with tips from Dan Prywes, an expert in labor and employment law and a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Bryan Cave.

Bypassing the Job Boards
It seems like more companies are bypassing the job boards and either limiting recruiting to industry and/or local job sites or to their own web site. Companies are proactively using social recruiting techniques, as well, to find candidates on sites like Twitter.

Organizing Your Job Search
Job searching can be really confusing. It's important to keep track of the job leads you find, the jobs you've applied to, the resumes and cover letters you have submitted, and the networking contacts you're outreaching to. If it sounds like a lot, it is. There are ways to get (and keep) your job search under control though.

Top Picks - Job Sites  from your  Job Searching  Guide
Some of the top job sites are traditional job banks, like Monster and CareerBuilder. Others, like Indeed.com, allow you to search many job boards, company career pages, associations, and other sites that list jobs.[p] There are also sites that focus on certain types of positions, like part-time jobs, internships or summer jobs. All of them are worth incorporating into your job search, because not all employers list on every site, even though it may sometimes seem that way.

1) America's Job Bank
Use America's Job Bank to connect to state employment service sites, search the jobs databases, and post your resume. Also find local OneStop Career Centers for personal assistance.

2) CareerBuilder
CareerBuilder is among the top job sites with over 400,000 job postings and 9 million resumes. CareerBuilder has partnered with Gannett, Knight Ridder, Tribune, and other newspapers to provide local, as well as national, job listings. CareerBuilder is an excellent source of local job listings.

3) CoolWorks
If you're interested in a seasonal job, start your search with CoolWorks. CoolWorks lists thousands of summer and seasonal jobs. There's a free weekly email newsletter and the opportunity to sign-up for a free email account to use for your job search.

About Paranormal: Iron Bridge - Shooting the Creature

About.com    Paranormal
In the Spotlight | More Topics | Top Picks | Last Week |
  from Stephen Wagner
I've never been hunting and can't even imagine killing a large animal. It's just not my thing. And it's even more incomprehensible to think that someone would consider shooting a Sasquatch, which might be a highly intelligent creature. That aside, this week's feature about a Sasquatch hunt makes for fascinating reading. It's incredible, but can it be true? The author tells me it is. Read and decide for yourself.

Iron Bridge - Shooting the Creature
Michael and his friends have had encounters with a creature they believe to be a Sasquatch near Iron Bridge, Ontario. In this third encounter, their experiences go way beyond anything they could have imagined... because this time they took weapons. The Top 10 Most Mysterious Creatures of Modern Times
There are creatures that lurk out there in the dark, that haunt the isolated forests of the world, that hide in the icy depths of the deepest lakes. They appear unexpectedly and inexplicably, then vanish just as mysteriously, usually leaving witnesses dumbfounded, frightened and, unfortunately in most cases, without a shred of evidence. Yet the eyewitness stories of these creatures persist, haunting the darkness as well as our imaginations. Here, for your consideration (and in no particular order) are the top 10 most mysterious, unexplained creatures of all time.

In these amusing videos, Captain Disillusion debunks many of those silly and often ridiculous "paranormal" and "ghost" videos found on YouTube and elsewhere on the Web. Very entertaining.

3) A Psychiatrist Explores the Paranormal
An interview with Dr. Berthold E. Schwarz, author of "A Psychiatrist Looks at ESP," in which he offers psychiatric case reports on the lives of three individuals, each with psychic ability.
